| SAS 70/SSAE 16 reports only on controls related to financial reporting. If you need assurance of controls directly related to data centers, including privacy, security and availability, you should look for a SOC 2 report. |
When you need a certified data center to verify your data is being hosted in an audited environment with all the proper controls in place, Online Tech can provide you with the confidence you need.
Although SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standard) was originally created for reporting on financial controls, it was previously used to represent adequate data center control objectives and processes. SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standard) has recently been replaced by SSAE 16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements), a new audit that not only verifies controls and processes, but also requires verification of design and operating effectiveness.
Online Tech has consistently maintained its SAS 70 Type II certification by an independent auditor year by year for each Midwest data center.
A SAS 70 Type II audit is an in-depth report of how effective operational controls are over a certain amount of time (typically six months). A Type I audit only reports on the aforementioned internal operational controls, which can include:
- The data center’s control environment, including risk assessment, communication and monitoring processes that affect our hosting solutions as it relates to an audit of financial statements.
After reviewing internal controls, an auditor will give his/her opinion as to whether or not the controls are suitable to achieve the objectives of the control measures.
Our SAS 70 data centers verify an independent auditor has identified and evaluated our controls and processes to certify we can provide a secure and compliant hosting environment for our clients. Our cloud hosting, managed servers and colocation services are complimented by standardized and consistent processes.
With fully redundant power and networks with automatic failover and multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), our Michigan data centers provide 100% uptime to ensure your critical data and applications are always secure and always available.
