Online Tech owns and operates three premium data centers (50,000 SF of mission critical space), and focuses on high availability, compliance, and security. Online Tech helps clients manage their growing IT demand with a full range of solutions from colocation to multi-tenant cloud to private cloud computing in independently-certified SSAE 16, SOC 2, HIPAA, & PCI compliant environments. We are expanding into the Indianapolis and Columbus markets and are looking to grow our sales force in these markets.

Job Overview: The Senior Sales Engineer role is primarily responsible for supporting our Account Executives by developing technical solutions to meet our customers’ requirements and working with our operations team to kick off the order deployment process. The job focuses on new and existing customers in the Indianapolis and Columbus markets, and it has the opportunity to expand into a broader set of sales responsibilities, including managing the commercial aspects of our customer relationships and prospect development.

What We’re Looking For: A highly energetic “A” player with excellent technical and people skills. Our ideal Senior Sales Engineer will fully engage by contributing great ideas and maintaining the highest standards of accountability and client focus within a sales team to help us build a leader in the cloud hosting business and one of the great Midwest success stories. This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position based in and working across the Indianapolis, Columbus, and Dayton markets.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical solutions to meet prospects’ needs from a broad mix of colocation, multi-tenant cloud, and private cloud options
  • Coordinate with the sales team to present and demonstrate how solutions meet prospects’ business and technical requirements
  • Coordinate with product management, marketing, and operations to recommend and position need-based solutions that the client and prospect base are requesting
  • Work with product management, marketing, and operations to address customers’ technical sales requirements
  • Work with marketing to position Online Tech’s products
  • Manage the sales order hand-off to operations to ensure successful deployments that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Online Tech sales team in achieving its objectives

Required Skills and Background:

  • At least five years of technical experience in deployment of servers, networking, and hosting and a four-year technical degree or a four-year degree with experience in the IT industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong desire to learn new sales skills and work with people
  • Self motivator with strong work ethic with a “can-do” positive attitude
  • Proficient in computer skills, contact databases, phone skills, and technical support of solutions sales
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Desire to be a part of the fast-paced, high-energy entrepreneurial experience
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. lawful permanent residency required

  • Develop prospective new customers for Online Tech’s managed data center services
  • Manage the sales process, including outbound prospecting, responding to leads, understanding requirements, presenting and demonstrating solutions, closing sales orders, and delivering on customer requirements, together with the operations team
  • Match product offerings to meet prospects’ needs; present and demonstrate solutions
  • Coordinate with Sales Engineering and Operations to ensure that the customer’s technical requirements can be achieved before the order is secured
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Online Tech sales team in achieving its objectives

Required Skills and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Five to ten years of experience in outside technical sales working with customers and internal technical resources to close deals
  • Technical understanding of servers, networking, hosting, colocation, and data centers
  • Demonstrated track record in overachieving objectives and ability to close sales
  • Proficient in computer skills, contact databases, phone skills, face-to-face selling, and solution sales
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, and a strong desire to learn new skills
  • Self-motivator with strong work ethic with a “can-do” positive attitude
  • Desire to be a part of the fast-paced, high-energy entrepreneurial experience
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. lawful permanent residency required
